Obamacare – Affecting Us For Awhile

Any one of us still employed and has employer based health benefits already know this to be true.

What follows is the latest impact that I see with my own health coverage through my employer.
Our newest coverage began this July 1st, 2013. It raised our pay period withholding a bit, around $10 to $20. Not too bad, right? Well, what the brochures we were given prior to signing up didn’t bother to show the changes and total impact to our out-of-pocket costs for any and all prescription costs.

Bottom line, prior to July 1st with coverage under BCBS Anthem and Express Scripts online pharmacy, my average 90 day total coverage for 12 prescriptions came to a total close to $286.

Now that we are in a new contract with BCBS Anthem but with CVS Caremark online pharmacy, my average 90 total coverage jumps to $607.

Out of the 12 prescriptions, only four are the heavy hitters. Insulin went from $129 to $339.The needles went from $5 to … $38. The other two went from $40 each to $87 and $101.

My message here is to those thinking Obamacare hasn’t hit yet, well, I have news for you. It has been getting more pronounced in our costs for the past few years to now – and the full effect hasn’t even switched on yet.

The costs I mention above are only starting to impact those of us with employer based health coverage. And most of the employees may not be noticing the impact quite yet due to the recent contracts just now taking effect.

Now, add in this mix where other smaller companies are clearly trying to minimize their costs by: shifting full time employees to part time (under 30 hours as defined by the ACA), dropping spousal coverage (UPS just recently to the tune of ten to 15 thousand people), closing their businesses.

In short, Obamacare is decimating employment, productivity, take home pay, ability to pay monthly bills and quality healthcare. Oh, did I forget to mention doctors that are – no longer accepting Medicare patients and those retiring and about to retire? And what about those students no longer finding the healthcare industry to be an attractive future? Not to mention their rising tuition costs – and even if they can continue and complete their education? Even if they stay and live with their parents? And how can their parents afford to keep them as dependents?

This is just the tip of the Titanic’s Iceberg, folks. And the ACA hasn’t and won’t be in full force starting in 2014 due to Obama delaying portions of the law (for whose benefit?). And that – is being questioned mightily about the legality of his decision – since it is only the job of Congress to enact & change legislation. It is NOT the job of the Executive branch. (Expect to hear more of that soon.)

As a sidenote, but just as related, illegals have been protesting for the right to get free organ transplants. Now, if you were a doctor in a hospital, would you do all of your work without getting paid? How could you continue to live, eat, work and……?

Still think this was a good law? Then you need to seriously rethink that position.
And fast.

Over-Regulation Kills

Coal Business. People. Faith. Life giving water. Ability to drrive to work. Economy.

Take your pick.

Actually, you don’t have to. The oversized federal government is doing it all – just for you. And to you. Us, that is.

Can we shrink government now? It has proven it will not follow the Law of the Land, our Constitution. So, they are completely lawless. Throw them in jail.

After Birth Abortion

That is not my idea. I noticed this in today’s email reminder of the topics discussed on todays Glenn Beck program.

Disgusting, if these jokers are indeed serious. They had better not be.

Medicaid Caps Benefits

Don Surber nails it in his post – Gazette misses the story.

But the bigger story was this “he received a notice saying he had exceeded his allowable charges.”

So the recipient had to dig up the data to learn the government was getting billed by caregivers that never visited him. Maybe it is too much to expect the government to find such details themselves, but here Don Surber notes the additional fallacy of the presumption on the part of the news paper itself.

That ” … the Gazette noted that this would not happen if we had universal health insurance.” And who would be the source of the universal health insurance?

Obamacare is attempting to be such. It is the government.

In other words, not only would nothing change, it would get even worse.

New Healthcare Rules

Which one first?

Got asthma? Prepare to have to use new “greener” inhalers. Namely because the EPA is going to ban the use of over the counter inhalers that will enlarge the ozone holes at the planet’s poles. Which means you are back to prescription-only, more expensive, inhalers.

And then, there’s this:
In a proposed rule from Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the federal government is demanding insurance companies submit detailed health care information about their patients.

I don’t know, sounds strangely familiar to something like, registering all of our bodies, as if we were firearms.

I do not trust these people. At all. How about you?

FDA Bans Asthma Medication

Why?

The only over-the-counter asthma inhaler sold in the United States will no longer be available next year as part of an international agreement to stop the use of substances that damage the environment.

Primatene Mist (epinephrine) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the temporary relief of occasional symptoms of mild asthma. FDA urges those who use Primatene Mist to see a health care professional soon to switch to another asthma medicine.

Primatene Mist inhalers are being discontinued because they use chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as a propellant (spray) to move the medicine out of the inhaler so patients can breathe the medicine into their lungs.

From the Big Government article:
CFCs from inhalers were a trivial contributor and should have been permanently exempted from these regimes until something just as good and just as affordable came along. They weren’t, and it hasn’t.

Our Founding Constitution In Danger

This is not new news, but this article might have some new bits of information within.

For those that have watched Glenn Beck, the progressives are pushing to alter the Constitution to incorporate a Second Bill of Rights. These are not the unalienable, nature’s God given rights – but ones “determined” by people (notice I am not even saying ‘government’ at this point). This is dangerous beyond imagination. For rights determined by man, can be later taken away, by man. And that, rings the death knell.

It is vital they be named.

Cass Sunstein, Lisa Brown, Eric Holder – all (and likely far more) operate within the Soros-funded American Constitution Society. Ring a bell?

If progressives manage to bring this about, it will be the beginning of the end.

For they know not what they do.

Stand up and be counted. Never give up, never give in. Remember November 2012. Now, more than ever.

Activist Judge Says Taxpayers Must Pay for Abortions

Really?

So how different is this from the POTUS and Congress saying we must pay for Healthscare or face fines and/or jail time?

Since when is it a Judge’s job to over-ride legislation from a state body and signed into law by its Governor?

There are real bad laws out there, Judge. Why not shut them down, too?

Unintended Healthscare Consequences

From a recent study by McKinsey & Company. According to that study, it appears that Obamacare may cost 60 million employees their health benefit coverage. Don Surber focuses on that.

Since then, there is now considerable angst within the McKinsey & Company itself. And disagreements within and without.

There’s only one way to solve this poblem.

Defund and eliminate this unconstitutional piece of bad, bad, absolutely terrible legislation.
