UPDATE: Overkill

An out of control tort system leads to the possibility of a jury award that would “wipe the company off the face of the earth.”

Not exactly what I would call an equitable situation. Particularly since “… there was never any claim from any patient that there’d (sic) been harmed or put in danger.”

And also there is this – “… some 32,000 people — patients/residents and healthcare workers alike — would lose their heatlhcare (sic) facilities and jobs.”

This isn’t justice people.

UPDATE (in response to a commenter’s question, a Google search provides the answers)

Frivolous Lawsuits:

Thanks for asking.

P.S. Nowhere in my post above do I state that was a frivolous lawsuit, in fact, nowhere in the referred article post uses that term either.

P.P.S. To further eliminate any confusion, my focus is not on the suit so much as the possibility of such an enormous award that will no doubt destroy a business – and is that a singularly good reason in every case? Is this a mistake that can be remedied? If so, how does erasing a business solve the problem? And how on earth does awarding such amounts serve anyone? The victims are going to get all of it? Doubtful. Even if that were possible, taxes would hit very hard. And then there’s the infighting among the recipients. No further good comes from this.

UPDATE: Amnesty Without Congress

Gee, it sounds like the guvmint trying to make Congress irrelevant.

Since when it is someone else’s job to enact legislation????

What also comes to mind is this is a way to try and keep this OUT OF OUR VIEW!

UPDATE: Apparently, the GOP lawmakers want an explanation. Well so do I.

UPDATE: Obamacare’s Eyechart

You think I’m kidding?

Guess again.

It’s worse than Glenn Beck’s chart from awhile back.

UPDATE: I knew I saw this before. heh heh.

UPDATED: Bypass the Electoral College??

Massachusetts wants to.
And, so far, five other states did. (Guess who was first?)

Good idea?? You know what this means don’t you?

It would mean that their states’ electoral votes may be awarded to a candidate who did not win statewide.

Still think it’s a good idea? I do not.

Here’s the status so far, state-by-state.

UPDATE: Here is a very good post on the Electoral College subject.

Oops. Looks like Massachusetts passed it.

Now I have a question for the entire country. In view of this seeming trend, how would states that DO NOT have such high density populations, like these that do have – New York, California and others, feel when the overriding concern for becoming President means the only places they have to go are the major cities? Still think your vote has the same weight?

Quote –

“What we are submitting is the idea that the president should be selected by the majority of people in the United States of America,” Senator James B. Eldridge, an Acton Democrat, said before the Senate voted to enact the bill.

Under the new bill, he said, “Every vote will be of the same weight across the country.”

Mark my words, it is a facade, people. Wake up!

All the More Reason to Boycott Citgo

Tin horn dictator Chavez threatens to cut off oil to the U.S.

Because?

Speaking at a political rally, Chavez warned of a military attack from Colombia, and accused the United States of being behind such an attack.

“The Yankee empire has no limit to its manipulation,” Chavez said.

Gee, I thought he and our POTUS were friends.

Guess not.

Dean Accuses But Won’t Answer Question

Imagine that. Former DNC Chair Howard Dean spinning a story to make FOXNews a villian.

Too bad that Chris Wallace called him on it.

Why is it that Dean, and others like him, insist on being idiots and lie to us?

1st Amendment Is In Danger

And we thought the Disclose Act was perhaps done with.

It may not be.

Flood the phones folks.

Minimum Wage Hurts Teen Employment

And how is that you may ask? It has been one year since the minimum wage was increased to $7.25. That’s 41% more than it was.

Here’s a blog referencing the Wall Street Journal article. Unfortunately, by going to WSJ you have to have an account to read the entire article. But the important part is shown within that blog.

Here’s my concern. Thinking about how companies don’t have control over a “minimum wage” is it any wonder that some of these companies are willing to risk hiring illegal aliens and paying less? You know, for doing the work “no American wants to do?”

Kinda flies in the face of reality, I’d say. Cause and effect, that is all this is.

Government mandates a minimum wage increase.
Small business companies can’t afford to pay.
Willing to pay less by hiring cheaper, illegal aliens.
Our people can’t get jobs because of that.

Future For AZ SB1070?

Not if the POTUS gets his way.

Some insightful comments about what may be the future of SB 1070 after court proceedings by Professor Jacobson. Smart guy.

Still, from what I read from this, it doesn’t solve the financial hit(s) we suffer from this situation.
