Unemployment Benefits for Millionaires
Yup. How about that. And guess who voted to keep that going?
From The Daily Caller –
Senate Democrats on Wednesday defeated an amendment to pay for the $60 billion in unemployment insurance payments that were included in President Obama’s tax deal with Republicans, which included a provision that would have eliminated taxpayer-funded benefits for millionaires.
A total of 50 Democrats and two independents voted against the measure, sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn, to cut a total of $156 billion in spending over five years.

UPDATE: Ignoring the Constitution Again
By having the U.S. Senate pass a funding bill (yesterday’s tax package that funds Obamacare) first THEN sending it to the House for their look see and vote.
What? They think we won’t notice? We don’t know our own Constitution?
We know it better than they do!
Oh, and here’s the voter tallies.

UPDATE: Nuclear Winter
Can you believe it’s – now?
Senate GOP leaders take heat over millions of dollars in earmarks
Thune and Cornyn faced a barrage of hostile questions about their earmarks by reporters from NPR, ABC News and NBC News.
“Going through this bill, there is earmark after earmark from the both of you, millions of dollars in earmarks from the two of you and from other senators,” ABC’s Jonathan Karl told Cornyn and Thune. “How do you have any credibility on this? Why do you have earmarks?”
And slowing the vote by reading the entire START treaty (heh):
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs on Wednesday blasted Republican opposition to the New START nuclear arms treaty, calling it a “new low in putting political stunts ahead of our national security.”
Sen. Jim DeMint’s (R-S.C.) call to read the entire treaty on the Senate floor in an effort to delay the ratification was described by Gibbs as “the height of hypocrisy.”
“While some express concern that the Senate doesn’t have time to debate the treaty, Sen. DeMint wants to waste 12 hours to read the text of a treaty that has been available to every member of the Senate and the public for more than eight months,” Gibbs said.
UPDATE: Sen. Jim DeMint backs down from reading the START Treaty document ….. man up, Jim.

UPDATEx2: Give That Man Legirons
For attempting a $48 Billion theft.
Of course, trying is one thing – if it is given to him – there is more than one criminal in cahoots here.
The Mother of All Earmarks…
Liberal Representative Emanuel Cleaver has proposed a whopping $48 BILLION EARMARK that would redistribute wealth to the inner cities.
UPDATE: $48 B … To one person? Friend? Operating a Child Day Care from his home?
UPDATEx2: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver Denies $48B Earmark
But Gateway Pundit has screenshots of his website and “drills down” so you can find it for everyone to see that it is there, as specified, on his website.
How about that? Fact checking doesn’t help much when you say something quite different does it, Rep. Cleaver?

UPDATE: List of Porkers
JammieWearingFool has the list of Porkers in the Senate.
Imagine my surprise, Sen. Mikulski is on that list.
UPDATE: Hhhmm. Sen. Cardin is on there also. How on earth could I have missed that?

Congress Job Disapproval At 83 Percent
Which means, their approval rating is at 13 percent.
This is according to the most recent Gallup poll published today.
What’s more, since October, the approval rating for Democrats went from 38 to 16 percent.
Down by half.
Merry Christmas, dolts. We now have the worst Congress on record, so far.
And the year isn’t even over yet.

$1.1T Spending Bill Oinking Its Way to the Floor
Tomorrow. Wednesday. The Ides of December.
This is the funding for the monstrosity known as Obamacare. It is ladeen with Pork, aka earmarks (as I heard on the Sean Hannity raadio show this day around 4 to 5pm). I agree with Don Surber’s post about Boehner’s call to the POTUS to veto it.
Crank up the phone lines, folks, this is the flip the Congress is giving us for Christmas because of our rising interest and activism in our Republic Government.
It is no coincidence that this is coming on the heels of Federal Judge Henry Hudson’s ruling about individuals having to purchase insurance (when the Commerce Clause in the US Constitution does not, and never did, claim regulating commerce extends beyond the state level).
Congress wants to send us a message? Well, pick up the phone and send them one also.
Other sites on this issue:
Michelle Malkin, Hot Air, Gateway Pundit
Hot Air shows an update that indicates the earmark count is now near 6,500 earmarks in all totaling $8.3 billion in all, at least.
When the POTUS first bragged about Congress passing the Healthcare (Obamacare) bill, he expressed happiness that they “included no earmarks.” Okay, POTUS, now is the time to express your dissatisfaction by breaking out the veto pen from its mothball status.
From Michelle Malkin’s article:
One commenter, who picked a page at random (877), found that the bill has designated $350 million to create a new “San Francisco Bay Restoration Program.” Others have noted that $413,000 have been appropriated for peanut research in the deep South and nearly $250,000 for virus free wine grapes in Washington State…

A Disappointment of Representation
Can’t say I am thrilled about Rep. Steny Hoyer winning re-election.
Now, even moreso after reading this –

At least he’s up for re-election again in two years …….

UPDATEx2: Takes Time to Get There
But now that Federal Judge Hudson has ruled parts of Obamacare unconstitutional, it will have to be heard through an appellate court before, and if, getting on the SCOTUS docket.
In the meantime, here’s a healthy read from Hot Air on the subject, replete with updates (up to five about now).
UPDATE: Apparently, the White House Blog is now trying to equate healthcare insurance with auto insurance. Okay, who’s going to be the first to tell them that the auto insurance requirement is a state responsibility and not the feds?
Heh. How Appealing. Indeed.
And, The Heritage Foundation weighs in. I like it.
UPDATEx2: And maybe the thought of 74% of doctors leaving their practice should pick up the pace of SCOTUS looking at this issue much, much sooner. Ya think?
