AZ SB1070 Thwarted

Parts of that illegal immigration law – by the 9th Circuit Appeals Court. Imagine my surprise.
At least now this issue just may step up into the realm for SCOTUS involvement.

And ABC News seems to agree. However, an excerpt:

A central provision of the law requires police officers to ask for immigration papers if they have a reasonable suspicion that the person they have stopped, detained or arrested is in the country illegally.

Sounds suspiciously just like the 287G program that County Sheriffs enter into withe I.C.E.

So it sounds to me that Arizona has replicated that program to be workable for the state.

I fail to see a problem here, that is, other than the blatant poliitics on the part of DOJ.

Incompetence From the Top Down

April Fools has been over for a bit.

So why would the White House think we would find their tacit admission that their 2012 budget plan wasn’t serious – funny?

This is beyond infuriating. This is unconscionable, ill-conceived, unwarranted and – to me – treasonous to the extreme since it detrimentally affects every – single – living (and yet to be) American in this country.

Union Labelled by Maryland and California

Seems Governors in these states also ask/tell unions they have to pony up to help reduce the state deficits.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country in an equally blue state, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley faced 15,000 union workers massed a the state capitol in protest of O’Malley’s own budget proposals, which will make only a modest dent in the $19 billion in unfunded pension liabilities and $16 billion in retiree health care. O’Malley plaintive defense at the rally was notable as much for its chutzpah as for its liberal parochialism: “You will not find in Maryland the sort of Midwestern oppression that you find in Ohio and Wisconsin!”, he declared.

Imagine that.

Meet the Proposed Head of the ATF

Andrew Traver, from Chicago. Feel any safer? I don’t. Second time the POTUS has nominated him.

Michelle Malkin says it best:

Traver’s pending nomination hearing comes as Republican watchdogs Sen. Charles Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa turn up the heat on the Obama administration’s stonewallers over Project Gunrunner. The State Department, Justice Department and ATF have failed to produce documents in a timely manner on a bloody initiative that has been tied to the deaths of at least two American law enforcement officials. Traver would be another go-along, get-along Chicago cog in the machine. Americans need someone who’ll strip the whitewash, not second-coat it.

Oh, and by the way, how about that war on drugs? Is it getting any better? Or worse? Who is better funded and capable?
Think it might be their toys?

And how about a new Secretary of State? Will it be Cass Sunstein’s wife? Color me unimpressed and a bit more concerned for our U.S. Constitution. Correction: a LOT more concerned.

That is, unless you are the designated “pool reporter”, Scott Powers, who was confined to a small closet for the bulk of the time during V.P. Biden’s Wednesday visit to the home of developer and philanthropist Alan Ginsburg.

So, this was not a demeaning, ill-conceived, false-imprisonment, unconstitutional and illegal confinement without due process?
