Disclosing Nondisclosure

The truth is, there will be a new rule giving the DOJ the right to lie.

The proposed rule directs federal law enforcement agencies, after personnel have determined that documents are too delicate to be released, to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests “as if the excluded records did not exist.” …

So, our elected officials now want even lower approval ratings than they have right now.
(Isn’t Congress in single digits? How about WH & DOJ, especially on Fast & Furious and other likely scandals?)

There’s more in the Hot Air article.

UPDATEx26: Fast And Furious Grows More Legs

Ed Morrissey at the Hot Air site not only explains it well, but poses questions that DOJ must answer.

Trouble is, they haven’t and won’t – looks like.

The thing is, it isn’t just the BATFE. It’s the FBI also.

Ask yourself this, if the online instant check system prevented the strawman purchases (which that would have – since the men involved have prior records) would the Operation Fast & Furious have happened at all?

So this points to the higher ups in DOJ even moreso than previously discussed.

Does the term – egg on your face – mean anything to you, Eric Holder? How about you, Mr. President?

UPDATE: And lost track of over 1,000 guns. Mack and Mire obviously working on it.

UPDATEx2: The Associated Press now weighs in (via POWERLINE).

The Obama administration’s cover-up continues to this day, as Eric Holder’s Department of Justice stonewalls Congress, seemingly in order to prevent the investigation from reaching into the highest levels of the administration. If the media’s need to protect the fast-sinking Obama administration were not so acute, this would be quite a scandal. It will be interesting to see how many newspapers outside the Southwest border region print the AP’s latest story.

UPDATEx3: The investigation expands.

UPDATEx4: So three WH officials received emails, huh?

UPDATEx5: Oh wow, this just gets better and better, or worse and worse, depending on your point of view. From Michelle Malkin, there is also information of not just guns being tossed, er – walked, to Mexican drug cartel(s). Sheesh. And then there’s what’s going on in Indiana, too.

UPDATEx6 and Bumped again: Oh, and two more tidbits: there was a third gun found at Border Agent Brian Terry’s murder, the FBI covered it up, and our tax dollars funded these “walked” guns purchases. If this don’t beat all.

UPDATEx7 and Bumped yet again: Apparently the DOJ is trying to derail the Congressional investigation by Issa. Methinks they protesteth too much.

UPDATEx8: And another piece of the puzzle at Hot Air. Cover-up was to protect an informant? And are there 200 murders as a consequence of this F&F program?

UPDATEx9: More audio, more treachery.

UPDATEx10: We didn’t talk to Mexico about this “program”? How un-neighborly.

UPDATEx11: This blows the “botched sting” theory.

UPDATEx12: What we’ve got here is failure to communicate. (line from Cool Hand Luke)

UPDATEx13: So now the NY Post gets it.

UPDATEx14: More details, much more. F&F at least started back in September 2009.

UPDATEx15: Accomplices named. Oh, and this flashback is pulled from the memory hole.

UPDATEx16: Documents released Friday evening (9/30/11), but not everything. There are, however, some interesting links wthin – such as letters, emails and a chart. A little more is said at Hot Air.

What’s this? DOJ considering getting rid of ATF??? Gee, what do they have to bury, er, hide??? And GatewayPundit chimes in.

UPDATEx17: PajamasMedia adds to the discussion with this little nugget – other operations that did the same. As confirmed by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News – Operation Wide Receiver.

UPDATEx18: So. The AG Eric Holder admits he doesn’t read every memo sent to him? Is that his excuse now? Why, exactly, is he the Attorney General???????

UPDATEx19 … Bumping again: Quite a list here:
House Republicans Request Special Counsel to Probe Holder on ‘Fast and Furious’
GOP Says Eric Holder is ‘Either Incompetent’ or ‘Misleading Congress’
CBS News Reporter Says White House Screamed, Swore at Her Over Fast and Furious
New documents show AG Eric Holder was briefed in July 2010

UPDATEx20:
Is CBS News Silencing Fast and Furious Reporter?
CNN’s Anderson interviews Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on F&F (via Hot Air)

And if you are interested at all about AG Eric Holder’s storied background, head on over to Michelle Malkin’s site about him.

UPDATEx21:
ATF officials reassigned in latest Fast and Furious fallout
Justice in full panic

Hhhmm, all of a sudden, it kinda looks like more media outlets are paying attention. Hhhmmm.

AHA! At last, Jake Tapper asks the Prez a tough question. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall at that presser. Oh, and Senator Cornyn is exactly right, it looks more like a cover-up.
And more memos.

UPDATEx22: Found in Mexico cartel’s house.

Updatex23: Holder to be subpoenaed? Oh, and Holder makes public about a terror plot bust. As Malkin says, question the timing.

UPDATEx24: This is too much. Love the question: How did the President know about F&F before the AG … back in March … before the AG claimed he even heard about it. HAH! GOTCHA both!

UPDATEx25: Friday, December 2, F&F document dump raises more questions.

UPDATEx26: Friday’s document dump (Jan 27, 2012) includes documentation proving Holder was informed immediately after the agent’s murder.

UPDATE: Devotion To The End

Video: Fallen SEAL’s dog won’t leave his side during funeral

Truly amazing.

It was a double whammy to me as, while I was watching the video, my own dog decided to climb up and lay on my chest while watching the video.

We have no idea (maybe some of us do) just how connected we are to our pets. And vice versa.

Prayers to all. Requiescat in pace.

UPDATE: Hawkeye finds a home with the Navy Seal’s Best Friend. Good for them both.

POTUS Tempted

Oh, yeah. He is tempted alright. He’d very much like to do legislation on his own. Watch the video (past this link) and pay attention to the audience reaction.

Voter ID in Rhode Island

As Gomer Pyle used to say, “Surprise, surprise, surprise!”

And what’s more, the perfect case for voter ID was put forth by this RI news article.

In a representative democracy, voting is sacred. It is how citizens can help change their government peacefully when they think it ceases to serve their interests and values. When the vote is corrupted by fraud, the legitimacy of the entire system is undermined.

That’s why Rhode Island should require that voters produce a photo ID at the polls.

“Voting should be at least as secure as renting a car, getting a library card or any of the other tasks that routinely require an ID,” said Secretary of State Ralph Mollis.

It would be nice, and proper, if more states would do the same (cough).

Don Surber has some more on this (h/t to you, Don). Be sure to read through the comments as well.

Don’t Tampa With 2nd Amendment

Think Project Gunrunner was only about the southern border with Mexico?

If you are a law abiding, gun owning citizen of the United States, should you be concerned? Very concerned?

And Alan West on Eric Holder. Also, Instapundit’s Glenn Reynolds.

Weiner To Go

Well, he says he is considering it.

About time. If one picture is worth a thousand words, he gave quite the novel.

Glad I didn’t read it.

Memorial Day

The Rights of Man

Most excellent.

Too Rich

According to Russ Feingold, former U.S. Senator (D-WI) of McCain-Feingold campaign reform infamy (let’s not forget that one, right?), has pointed out three politicians for “shame” due to being beholden to corporate interests.

I’ll let you find out who in the article from The Hill. But one of them is from Maryland, another from Connecticut and the other in the “Show Me” state of Missouri.

Imagine my surprise.
