Our Other Senator Grilled By FOXNews

A feisty interview between FOX News Shep Smith and Senator Benjamin Cardin (D).

Can you determine where the arrogance is coming from? I can.

UPDATEx4: Senate To Reintroduce Public Option?

Four Senate Democrats wrote Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday, asking him to revive the public option in the Senate’s health bill.

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) called on Reid to reintroduce the public option into the healthcare debate through the budget reconciliation process, which would short-circuit filibuster rules and allow Democrats to pass a bill with a simple majority in the Senate.

Well, so much for paying attention to us constituents. Why can’t we vote them out right now?

UPDATE: Healthcare reform and reconciliation a bad mix
The budget reconciliation process, with its arcane rules and potential for political chicanery, is not suited to healthcare reform, according to the Senate’s former parliamentarian, Robert Dove, who was the chief Senate parliamentarian for 12 of his 36 years.

UPDATEx2: Obamacare Before The Summit?
You aren’t going to like this. Not. One. Damn. Bit.
I already despise their tactics. How about you?

UPDATEx3: 16 Senators now calling for the public option?
I am getting conflicting data on this. I hear that there is an insufficient number of votes to pass this debacle anyway (that is, it isn’t going to pass) under reconciliation. My question is, what kind of misdirection is taking place here?

UPDATEx4: Reconcile this, SenatorsNO !!!!

UPDATEDx5: Summit: GOP – Show Up And Argue Points

Don’t miss this opportunity, GOP.

It is equally important to the public at large that you be seen fighting for us. As opposed to just turning your backs on this Summit meeting.

If you don’t, this could likely backfire and lend more fuel to the Administration’s rhetoric in the MSM.

We, the country and Constitution, cannot afford that. Help us, by showing up and doing your job by fighting for us.

Please and Thank You.

UPDATE:
Thank you, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor.

UPDATEx2: According to Speaker Pelosi, this event is a trick and the Dems will use reconciliation to force the existing bill through. Pay attention folks.

UPDATEx3: Rasmussen has the figures for how many of us would prefer that Congress start all over again to reform healthcare

UPDATEx4: Dick Morris has a very good article on how the Republicans should address this. I like it.

UPDATEx5: The invites are out.

Pattern of Ignoring Independent Analysis

For the first time by any administration in memory, the Obama budget forecast rejects the Medicare Trustees’ projections for long-run healthcare cost growth. Why would the White House do this?

Read the whole thing. The 2011 Budget has rigged the Healthcare economic assumptions.

Substance Not Process

What bothers me is the content of the supposed Healthcare bill(s).
Over 2,700 pages long for the last, latest version.
Is there anyone that knows all that is in there? All of it?
I have read a good percentage of it from its beginnings through to now.
There is a lot I don’t find necessary, or even good for any of us, in this monstrous bill.

There is too much hidden in this effort to “reform” our healthcare. Not to mention all the subsequent “unintended consequences” that will surely come about should this see the light of enactment.

Even if a Summit were to be held including the GOP, there is no guarantee enough will be “fixed” to assure the country that we won’t be taxed, fee-ed and denied care out of existence.

Sorry, but I am one of those that says – start over and make it smaller, simpler, easier to understand without earmarks and lobbied interests baked into this “reform.”

You have a little less than three years to go, Mr. President. That is most certainly plenty of time to not just do this right and fair to our population but to result in a piece of work that all could be proud of their involvement. Including and especially you. And please, don’t insult us. We are the public that makes this country what it is. We are the ones who voted this administration into office. To refer to us as soured and contaminating your bill is just plain wrong.

Don’t make us regret that. The clock is ticking. Get to work.

No Explanation Necessary

Yet, the White House insists that Anthem Blue Cross in California answer to them for raising their rates. Excuse me, “justify” their rates. (Isn’t this supposed to be a free enterprise system? You know, let the market drive itself?)

If health care costs are going upwards, shouldn’t an insurance business adjust similarly? They cannot stay in business if they are not allowed to.

Let Michelle Malkin ‘splain it to us.

Bye Bipartisanship

It appears that the Republicans have given a counter offer to the President’s Super Bowl interview with Katie Couric. Basically, we need to start over concerning health care insurance.

And now, the President, via Mr. Gibbs says no – we need to pass meaningful health insurance reform legislation.

My view: Since this started, there were 47 million folk uninsured. That figure is now held around 30 million. The overall population of the country is near 300 million.

With unemployment what it is and the economy in the condition that it is, why are we trying to change 90 percent of the population for the sake of the remaining ten percent? Why can’t we fix just the ten percent?????

To the Republicans in Congress, I advise – hold your ground. It shouldn’t take a bill (with more than 2,000 pages) to fix ten percent of the uninsured that may need health care insurance.

UPDATE: Just Heard on Rush Limbaugh

A caller said that if Pres. Obama really wants to discuss healthcare reform honestly – he should talk seriously with the Republicans now and get jobs restored and growing. He cannot do it himself.

Afterwards, then we can talk about healthcare reform.

UPDATE: But that isn’t how this started. According to the Professor, our POTUS wants pre-conditions upon the Republicans. But, didn’t the POTUS say he would be willing to meet and talk with our enemies WITHOUT pre-conditions????

Michelle Malkin has another, excellent idea: Provide transcripts of his backroom meetings with Big Labor/SEIU.

Death Knell

The question is: for who?

Us? The Democrats? The Progressives? Our entire country??????

This. Crap. Has. To. Stop. (psst. That post was updated to reflect Sen. Kyl’s comments. Do I hear, “Danger! Danger!”?)

Oh. And this too! Enlarging a piggy bank and ASSUMING it automatically gives you something is nothing to be proud of.

Stop pussyfooting around, Congress. We are watching you even if you think we are not.
Why do you insist upon making us even more mad than we are RIGHT NOW?
You think we won’t remember this come November????

Fat chance of that.

Bad Mental Image

Pole vault? Nancy Pelosi?

Folks, this seems to me to be an attempt to keep us on our toes.
Hoping (they are, I think) to keep us off-balance.

Not. Going. To. Happen.
