We Are In The Best of Hands

Not.
I agree with Mark Steyn. Vehemently. Clapper is an idiot of the first order and shouldn’t be allowed out in public.

Who put him in charge? Oh, yeah.

How To Mess Up the Future

According to the Veep, by spending $50B + for high speed rail in economic times that put all of us and generations to come owing tons of money this administration spent and borrowed and spent to the point of (almost??) no return.

In other words – rocketing to the poorhouse.

Idiot. I hope everyone else picks up on the timing of this idiocy.

hhhmm, I wonder how much of that $50B could be used to seal the southern border …….

Agency Due For Budget Cuts

According to an article in the L.A. Times:

As the allegations have come to light, gun dealers across the southwest border have said the ATF has for years been quietly gathering information about questionable multiple purchases and even asking gun dealers to gather information, including descriptions and license plate numbers of suspicious buyers.

Dick DeGuerin, who represents Houston gun dealer Bill Carter, owner of Carter Country, said the company is now being threatened with a federal indictment as a result of multiple sales to purported straw purchasers — sales he said were not only reported to the ATF, but which federal agents encouraged Carter Country employees to complete.

“What’s going on now is some of these agents are scared of their own careers, and are afraid to own up to the fact that they encouraged Carter Country to go through with these sales,” DeGuerin said. “The breakdown came with, what did the ATF do with the information that Carter Country was delivering to them? Apparently, they didn’t do much.”

Happy Birthday, Ronald Reagan.

HotAirPundit has two perfect videos for this day. The first, a campaign ad. Thes second, today’s experiment by President Obama.

Kinda makes you want to turn the calendar back ……

Energy Independence Unleashed

In Israel. Not here in the U.S.

Israel’s Tamar field is said to contain about 8 trillion cubic meters of gas. In December, gas exploration companies led by U.S.-based Noble Energy announced that another deposit in Israeli waters, Leviathan, contained some 16 trillion cubic meters.

I can’t help but notice that it is a U.S. based company involved with this. Too bad we can’t do this here.
I wonder who is preventing us from doing so? Yeah. I wonder.

Air Forced

It seems that DHS/TSA no longer is ambivalent about private security for airports.

Yup. It’s all about controlling the folks. Er, it’s all about control, folks.

But on Friday, the TSA denied an application by Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri to privatize its checkpoint workforce, and in a statement, Pistole indicated other applications likewise will be denied.

“I examined the contractor screening program and decided not to expand the program beyond the current 16 airports as I do not see any clear or substantial advantage to do so at this time,” Pistole said.

Yeah. He’s a pistol, all right. High caliber? Nah, not so much.

No Longer Ours

Deepwater rigs moved out of the Gulf of Mexico

(Adds Pride rig moving to Mediterranean)
Jan 27 (Reuters) – Some of the 30-plus deepwater rigs that were in the Gulf of Mexico have moved to other markets, first because of a U.S. halt called last May after BP Plc’s well blowout, and then because of the lack of permits once the moratorium was lifted.

See the jobs go. See the oil go. See unemployment rise. Is it any wonder costs for everything will rise?

And we remain dependent on others to export oil to us. Even moreso.
Sorry, grandkids, this is no longer the America it used to be.

Thank the President and the 111th Congress for this mess. They are the ones who foisted this on you.
Let no one tell you otherwise, for that will be a lie.

So House Proposes $2.5T Spending Cuts

But have they gone far enough? No.

I notice one thing they have touched on yet, our funds to the IMF. You know, the International Monetary Fund?
And what happened to all the money we sent their way in the not so distant past?

And another thing, how many items make up all of the unfunded liabilities? When is there going to be an accounting, and reductions/eliminations, in that area? Hhhmmm?
