Substance Not Process

What bothers me is the content of the supposed Healthcare bill(s).
Over 2,700 pages long for the last, latest version.
Is there anyone that knows all that is in there? All of it?
I have read a good percentage of it from its beginnings through to now.
There is a lot I don’t find necessary, or even good for any of us, in this monstrous bill.

There is too much hidden in this effort to “reform” our healthcare. Not to mention all the subsequent “unintended consequences” that will surely come about should this see the light of enactment.

Even if a Summit were to be held including the GOP, there is no guarantee enough will be “fixed” to assure the country that we won’t be taxed, fee-ed and denied care out of existence.

Sorry, but I am one of those that says – start over and make it smaller, simpler, easier to understand without earmarks and lobbied interests baked into this “reform.”

You have a little less than three years to go, Mr. President. That is most certainly plenty of time to not just do this right and fair to our population but to result in a piece of work that all could be proud of their involvement. Including and especially you. And please, don’t insult us. We are the public that makes this country what it is. We are the ones who voted this administration into office. To refer to us as soured and contaminating your bill is just plain wrong.

Don’t make us regret that. The clock is ticking. Get to work.

No Explanation Necessary

Yet, the White House insists that Anthem Blue Cross in California answer to them for raising their rates. Excuse me, “justify” their rates. (Isn’t this supposed to be a free enterprise system? You know, let the market drive itself?)

If health care costs are going upwards, shouldn’t an insurance business adjust similarly? They cannot stay in business if they are not allowed to.

Let Michelle Malkin ‘splain it to us.

Bye Bipartisanship

It appears that the Republicans have given a counter offer to the President’s Super Bowl interview with Katie Couric. Basically, we need to start over concerning health care insurance.

And now, the President, via Mr. Gibbs says no – we need to pass meaningful health insurance reform legislation.

My view: Since this started, there were 47 million folk uninsured. That figure is now held around 30 million. The overall population of the country is near 300 million.

With unemployment what it is and the economy in the condition that it is, why are we trying to change 90 percent of the population for the sake of the remaining ten percent? Why can’t we fix just the ten percent?????

To the Republicans in Congress, I advise – hold your ground. It shouldn’t take a bill (with more than 2,000 pages) to fix ten percent of the uninsured that may need health care insurance.

UPDATE: Waste Not Our Taxpayer Dollars

Apparently, the federal government, aka Administration, didn’t get the memo.

They choose the most expensive commercial timeslot(s) to air a public service message. During the Super Bowl.To tell us how to count and fill out the Census forms.

Irresponsible. Totally. And this is only a PORTION of the $340M they intend to spend on just advertising alone for the upcoming Census. This means the total cost of the Census will be increased by $340M. What else will add to it?

By the way, aren’t the local jobs being filled for this event – part-time for the duration of the Census?

Greenspan Unsure of Unemployment Rate

And that is putting it mildly.
At least and at last, someone is being closer to honest about this.

A Budget Plan to Cut the Deficit

And this is according to a Washington Post article on a proposal by House Rep. Paul D. Ryan (R-WI). A Republican plan that actually will do what Pres. Obama says he wants to do as well.

But Peter Orszag disagrees with it and publicly criticized it during hearings on Pres. Obama’s budget plan.

It seems the White House doesn’t want Republican help. Why is that? I thought the President keeps saying he wants bipartisanship in these efforts. So why isn’t it happening? Somebody isn’t in the loop, I suspect. Couldn’t be another reason, now could it?

Let’s see, Peter Orszag, Peter Orszag … oh yeah, this guy – right?

Clarence Thomas on why he did not attend the State of The Union address.

It sounds right, to me.

U.S. Lawsuit Against Chiquita

Chiquita Brands International Inc., owner of the namesake banana label, must face a lawsuit accusing it of helping Marxist rebels in Colombia who murdered five American missionaries a decade ago. . . .

Oh, by the way, guess who was representing Chiquita?

This is an excellent 3 minute plus video. Enjoy.

And help to spread it around.

Census Data

How much is too much?
In view of the growing quantity of elaborate, and very personal, questions to be present on Census forms, here is yet another danger to answering all of those unnecessary questions.

Access to your bank accounts.

According to this article, could be more likely than you would ever know.
And all the more reason to simply answer the simple need of how many people live at your residence. And only that.
