A Heinous Act

Federal officials are investigating a fire that started overnight at the site of a new Islamic center in a Nashville suburb.

I was asked about this story this evening while at an event, but I was not aware this had happened.

The few, or the one, that did – I hope is caught and charged accordingly.

We don’t do this, people. I don’t, pretty sure most of us don’t.

We are supposed to obey the Rule of Law in this Republic, aren’t we?

Visa Fee Hike Called Discriminatory

The U.S. is reviewing whether a law that increases some visa fees is compliant with World Trade Organization rules, the U.S. Department of State announced last week. President Obama signed into law on Aug. 13 a $600 million bill for increased surveillance for illegal immigrants on the U.S.-Mexican border. The cost of the new measures are to be paid from an increase in H-1B and L visa fees paid by tech workers brought into the country by companies with more than 50 staff, and in which more than 50% of the staff are on these visas. The new border security law has been criticized as discriminatory by India’s National Association of Software and Service Companies that have more than 50% of their staff in the U.S. on these visas.

Let Me Get This Straight

Government agents can sneak trespass onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn’t violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway — and no reasonable expectation that the government isn’t tracking your movements.

That rule now applies in California and eight other Western states. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit recently decided the government can monitor you in this way virtually anytime it wants — with no need for a search warrant.

Okay. So two wrongs make it right? My God.
All this does is open the door for more abuse – against law abiding citizens and not just suspected criminals.

EPA Decides NOT to ban lead ammunition.

They’re still sinking, er, thinking, about whatever to do about fishing sinkers.

Stormy Whether

Yup. Not a misspelling. Really.

What this refers to is that the White House counter-terrorism adviser, John Brennan, stormed out of the Washington Times offices after being asked questions regarding what he previously said about individuals who become terrorists

What we have here, is failure to keep control of one’s temper. Apparently. For someone in a high level position who is supposed to be consistent regarding our nation’s security.

Apology Tour Right Here

The AP reports on our latest pitch to the UN which is an admission of human rights shortcomings – by the U.S.

The 29-page “Universal Periodic Review” report was submitted to the Human Rights Council on Friday but was not published until Monday. Members of the council, which the United States joined only last year, are required to submit reviews of their rights records. The report was the first produced by the U.S. State Department.

President Barack Obama decided that the U.S. should run for a seat on the council.

The report’s findings were cautiously welcomed by human rights activists but will likely draw fire from conservatives who opposed joining the council. They said the U.S. should not be judged by countries with poor human rights records.

The administration sought to rebuff such criticism in the report, saying its participation in the review was not an acknowledgment “of commonality with states that systematically abuse human rights.”

… Kinda gets you right here, doesn’t it?

License Fee To Blog?

Philadelphia says, $300. Pay up.

I see it as an imminent threat to free speech. Kind of like wanting to regulate guns.

If they get you on a list, they can shut you down if they don’t like what they see or hear.

Post their pictures (of those Philly Cheese Takes) as the enemies to our U.S. Constitution that they are.

Otherwise, it could spread elsewhere.

POTUS’ speech.

If you want to read it. Apparently, POTUS is for the Mosque to be built near Ground Zero.

How magnanimous of him.

A Few Steps An Idiot Makes

“It’s not the content of their activity – that being the national anthem – it’s the location,” he said. “A couple steps and it would have been no problem whatsoever.”

So said Sgt. David Schlosser. “The United States Park Police is absolutely content-neutral when it comes to any sort of demonstrations in these areas.”

Wow. So how was this group of high school students supposed to know that? How was anyone supposed to know that?

Since when is speech, or singing, supposed to be curtailed when attempting to display patriotism?
