Skim Scam Flim Flam

Well, the National Guard falls under jurisdiction of the State Governor, right?

Sounds like a plan.

Again, Billy Nungesser and Governor Bobby Jindal not being able to get answers to questions about skimmers, now National Guard will provide reports on the amount of oil being collected and monitor the Coast Guard.

UPDATE: Jobs In Jeopardy

Up to 1,000 jobs at Bucyrus International Inc. and its suppliers could be in jeopardy as the result of a decision by the U.S. Export-Import Bank, funded by Congress, to deny several hundred million dollars in loan guarantees to a coal-fired power plant and mine in India.

About 300 of those jobs are at the Bucyrus plant in South Milwaukee, where the company has 1,410 employees and its headquarters. The remaining jobs are spread across 13 states, including Illinois, Minnesota and Indiana.

UPDATE: The bank is now changing its position.

Don’t Pay, Just Seize Them

That’s the approach Hugo Chavez takes. And takes. (Notice a pattern here?)

Yup, he won’t pay $100M owed to a U.S. company for working their oil rigs providing product to Venezuela. Oh yeah, definitely the free enterprise system doesn’t work there.

At least, the government can still use this product – unlike the confiscated foodstuffs rotting in warehouses, right?

UPDATEx3: Disaster In More Ways Than One

Ecological, economical, long term.

And not just to Louisiana, although they were hit first. (Over two months now.)

There are numerous (35?) drilling platforms affected by the POTUS’ oil drilling moratorium.

Millions of dollars per day is negatively affected. Jobs to be lost. Platforms will be lost also. What will this do to our supply chain? (As if I didn’t know.)

Now, Louisiana Governor Jindal is battling the moratorium in the courtroom. As he should.
In fact, I would think other governors should join with him.

(NOTE: A friends tells me this bit about what I heard on Glenn Beck’s show may not be quite factual. I will check into this and post what I find out. What did I hear on Glenn Beck tonight about our government giving a $2B loan to Brazil’s oil drilling – which will be even deeper than the Deepwater Horizon?? Why are we giving them money we don’t have – to do something we are turning off? Excuse me, the POTUS is turning off.)

UPDATE: “Oh, no you don’t.” “Oh, yes we will.” In the meantime, local businesses there are in the middle – not being squeezed so much – but more like a taffee pull.

UPDATEx2: Well, it looks like the federal judge is NOT going to delay his ruling that DOJ wanted him to do. Which means the moratorium is dust. For now. Let’s hope.

UPDATEx3: As promised, here are some additional references to Beck’s claim (above). It appears that Beck painted the situation with a rather broad brush. Here you go:

In fact, the Export-Import bank receives no appropriations from Congress and thus does not rely on American taxpayer dollars and is also not “sending” $2 billion to the Brazilian company but offering lines of credit to U.S. firms so they can compete to land contracts as part of Petrobras’ drilling operations.

Also:

The U.S. government is preparing to provide up to $10 billion in loans to finance the development of massive hydrocarbon reserves off Brazil’s coast thought to contain 80 billion barrels of high-quality crude, an amount that could lead to a six-fold increase in Brazil’s current proven reserves and transform that nation into one of the world’s 10 largest oil producers.

Well, I still have questions about these lines of credit and loans … I mean, given our own country’s economic situation.

Shocking

For a little while. Only as much as we can afford, right, Senator Joe?

Message to you, Joe, we don’t need any such legislation piled on top of us like you did with Obamacare. Certainly not on top of the ever spiraling debt.

If anything, of those 50 that want to vote for it – we want those 50 to switch and vote AGAINST it! Along with those 20.

Uncovered

So they haven’t a clue how to do the job except to whine about it?

Gee, where have we heard that before?

From Gateway Pundit:

The AP reported:

The panel appointed by President Barack Obama to investigate the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is short on technical expertise but long on talking publicly about “America’s addiction to oil.” One member has blogged about it regularly.

Yet another blow against “doing one’s job” in the government.

UPDATE: What In The Wide Wide World of ….

Is going on here?

Who told those barges to stop vacuuming oil from the waters along Louisiana’s shores?

UPDATE: Oh, these guys shut them down. Well, at least it was temporary. Thanks to Governor Jindal.

What Feds Knew And When They Knew It

There’s no escaping this one.
Pictures from above and video of a meeting.

It is now over 56, 57 days since the Deepwater Horizon explosion and subsequent mile-deep oil volcano.

Lousy performance, 1600. And Congress.

You could have given a waiver of the Jones Act and accepted help from other countries willing and able to help us in a real time of need.

Instead, you fritter away our time our natural resources our money our patience.

And point fingers everywhere but where it belongs.

No votes for you anymore.

New and Deadly EPA Regulations

According to the AP:
The Senate has rejected a bid to stop the Obama administration from imposing regulations on greenhouse gases, giving a boost to President Barack Obama as he pursues broader clean energy legislation.

And the vote was 53 Nays to 43 Yeas (Roll Call). Take a guess how our illustrious Maryland U.S. Senators voted. Think they had our best interest at heart?

I will save you the trouble. They both voted against this bill that would have prevented the EPA from imposing the worst piece of regulation on our entire society.

What hutzpah. What unmitigated gall. What super-inflated, uneducated egos.

They just allowed appointed Marxists the power to regulate us into the dark ages. They have to go.

The Future

I hate it when that happens.

My best friend and I were talking the other day about looming price increases on our fuel consumption such as gas and diesel. Well, here’s what a former Shell Executive has to say – we may be seeing $6 to $8 per gallon of fuel on the horizon.

I have one question for each of us. How much money do you have left to spend at the end of your monthly budget?

To expand on this: Will you be able to afford to go to work every day now? How about your grocery bill? Bet we are all going on a forced diet, you think? How often will you be cutting your grass now? Probably have to do it yourself since you won’t be able to afford paying your lawn service, right? Home deliveries of food, drugs, newspapers, trash and recycle pickups – all those are going to increase in their bills left in your mailbox. No more going out to eat, no more going to the mall or movies. (And let’s face it, there will likely be a rash of additional bankruptcies and foreclosures right on the heels of all these cost increases.)

And let’s not forget our electric bills.

Thank the Administration, folks. For their short-sightedness and reactionary policies involving the latest fiasco.

This is going to hurt. Big time.
